The goal of the 5K is for the girls to do their best and HAVE FUN! Girls are not encouraged to race competitively, but are encouraged to reach their own goals. For most girls, that means making it to the finish-line- whether it is by walking, running or skipping.

Community Running Buddy Volunteer Description:

Running buddies should be enthusiastic, fun-loving, patient, supportive, and be able to run or jog a 5K.

The job of a Community Running Buddy is to accompany and encourage the girls through their experience at the Season Finale 5k. That means running or walking at their pace and encouraging them to do their best, but also recognizing and respecting their limits.  Most girls are accompanied by a parent or adult friend who serves as their assgined running buddy.  However, we need community members to run along the course with the girls and help make sure that they are all running with someone (as they may get separated from their assigned running buddy), and to cheer them on throughout the route.
